MF35 shift lever rotation

The main shift lever on my MF35 diesel can rotate the entire ball cup back and forth, which makes it very tricky to shift. Where these just pressed into the steering box/trans cover housing? I need to secure this in place somehow. Was thinking maybe JB weld might hold it enough?

Also, the high/low shifter was binding and I found out why. The cup on on the hi/low stick was pushed down some which caused the stick to bottom out in the shift rail socket. Hopefully it will press back in.

The cup on your shift lever is so worn there are no threads left on it!. This cup should have a locking nut fitted to it and tightened up with a 'C' spanner . A new pin will help to stop the gear sticking problem.

I don't see any sign of those locking nuts on either of my 35s and I don't see it in the parts book either... What model tractor is that a picture of?
