Look what followed me home!

I went to Choctaw, OK the other day and look what followed me home. My wife said if I feed and clean up after it I can keep it, she's a great gal! It ran terrible, then I checked the firing order and reversed #1 and #4 plug wires, now it runs great. It doesn't smoke and the compression was 130, 125, 130, 135. Everything seems to work ok except the position lever won't raise the lift arms, but the draft lever will, and the generator(12v) isn't charging. I didn't think $1400 for the tractor plus a 6 ft. box blade and a draw bar was too bad. The engine, front sheet metal, steering box and some other items are going on my other TO 35 that I'm rebuilding.

Hello, Nice 35, I think you will find that if you move the draft lever to just the right place,The position control will work the 3 pnt.
I had an experience with mine like that. I found also that if the draft lever is in another certain spot the position control will work backwards. - good luck-ed

Looks to be a green belly 55 56 maybe i need something like that to follow me home. Great price

Looks good, I had something similar follow me home a couple weeks ago. Price seems pretty good, I gave $1700 for mine (a '59) with a Davis 99 loader (thought it was a 101 but since changed my mind) which has since come off.
Almost seems a shame to part it out.

Ed, I tried moving the draft lever to different positions, but that didn't have any effect. The position lever doesn't feel like it is connected to anything. I'll have to pull the Rt. side inspection cover and see what is going on inside. The decision to part it was tough, but my other TO35 has a cracked block between three of the cylinders and a bad crankshaft, but it also has a duel clutch. I've also put a new front axle assymbly, new hyd pump, and a heavier lift cover with 3" lift cylinder on it ( the old 2.5" lift cylinder broke). I'm leaning toward just swaping engines because of the duel clutch and the fact I've already replaced so much other stuff. I do agree though, it is a pretty nice '55 TO35 to part out.

Well............you've presented your argument well. I am ok with you parting it out.

Yeah good find but I'd still play with the lift some and shop around for another donor since the green belly's are collector items and will bring much more than all your repairs will on the other but it is yours to do whatever with. Does anyone know just how many GB's that were made?

How can I tell if I have a green belly? There are places on the frame that paint has flaked off and there appears to be plenty of green underneathe. It is a 55 or 56, SN 159084. It is For Sale in TX.

Don't use the Draft Lever for lifting implements on the 3 point or you will be discharging the safety valve and it isn't made to do that continuously. The Control Lever linkage needs re-setting so that the Position Control will work properly. If you need the info how to do this, email me direct at the address below and I will send it with the info how to operate the hydraulic system correctly..John(UK)[email protected]

Well it looks like your the owner of a 1955 green belly but it would cost to much for me to ship her north.
