Anyone know of this fellow? I purchased a JD 70 Standard from him on Ebay last night. It is also in a photo ad on here.
This morning someone tried to cancel the sale and I can't get anyone on the phone number provided. I am starting to get concerned but am not out any $ yet.

Kind of thought so. He is sure adamant about no dead beat bidders. To bad he doesn't seem to have the integrity he is looking for in others.

This is Dave, I called you the very next day and explained everything. It's not our fault that ebay did not remove the listing when we told them to, there's no point in selling the tractor twice. The listing even says: "I may end the auction since the tractor is for sale locally" This is not the first time ebay has been slow to remove a listing, whoever works behind the scenes there really needs to be fired.

The tractor was relisted so many times because every time it "sold" the buyer never sent money, never said they were going to pick it up, etc. I even offered you an identical tractor in better shape for the same money to make up for it, your loss I guess.

I guess if it makes you feel better to go around the internet and call Greg a deadbeat then go ahead.

I bought a GP off of him a while back and could not be happier. Since then I have also bought a 730 diesel and he is one of the most honest people I know.

Alot of people these days you just can't trust, I mean, geeeeze

You told me you would show me the proof too. That never came to be. The auction was tried to cancel AFTER the auction was over. I can prove that. Until I see your proof otherwise, I stand by my reasoning.

And, the sold tractor is still listed on YT about a week later (ad 477139 ) for about $2,000 more than my winning bid.

Below is the Ebay ad.. I can't see where it said anything about fore sale and auction may end early.

1955 john deere 70 standard diesel loaded with all the factory options serial number 7018126. I bought this tractor about 6 months ago. It is all in all a super nice tractor. It had came out of a collection out in portland oregon. THe tractor runs absolutely flawless. THe big motor starts up instantly and runs great. I havent ran it for more then about two minutes tho since the previous owners had to lift it onto a trailer so they slung a chain under the fraim and when they lifted up it broke the water pipe flange. This isnt a huge deal, i will have another good one for the tractor, when the tractor is picked up. I was told the last owner got all the mechanical work done and all it needs is paint. i was told he rebuilt the big motor as you can see the new gaskets on the motor if you look close, the new tack says it has 80 hours on it. and i would believe this due to the way it runs. When i got it the pony motor didnt run and i havent had it runing iether. But you can absolutely tell for sure someone had the pony motor apart and rebiuilt it due to some parts in primer and some parts that arent, and new gaskets. THe pony also has a new mag box and you can tell carb is rebuilt. I would assume if you threw a battery in it it would fire rite up, i just havent had the time to do so. The tractor has new wiring and guages as well. IT has an adjustable standard front end which is super rare! These frontends usually bring $2000.00+ alone. It also has a rockshaft which is very hard aswell to find on a standard. the tin work is in good condtion aswell. THe nose has just a couple little dings, theres no major dents anywere on the tractor. The pony motor door opens and closes good. And the fenders are in good condition with just a couple little dents but arent all rusted out and junk like alot of them are. The tractor is about half in primer and half needing primer. IT has both originall kickplates which are in great condtion. aswell as a good battery box. lots of stuff was taken apart on the tractor, and everything is put back on now. there is lots of new hardware and parts on this. You can tell the clutch has been rebuilt and it works great. THe brakes work great aswell. It shifts into all the gears fine. The rear tires are about 60% with very minimal weathering, they hold air fine and would last for alont time. The rims are in good condtion as well and arent all rusted out. All in all this is a nice tractor that just needs some tlc and paint and would be in good restored conditon. THis is a very rare tractor wiht all the options and are getting realy hard to find. If you have any questions call me at 815 901 2231. thanks, greg.

I was in my office that night on my computer and found the email, I tried calling you to get your email address so I could forward it to you but I could not get a hold of you. (not saying that's your fault I just got a new phone) Since then I haven't been back to the office since we've been planting.

Well, that's a first. Between the two of us we always put that in there.

From a distance, this reads like the typical tractor jockey only out to make a buck. Who in this tractor world cannot purchase or borrow a battery to MAKE SURE a pony engine will fire up.
I hate these ads that go on and on about "all it needs is..............."
And when the same tractor keeps showing up on various sites, enough said!

I am in the grandstand here also but agree with your assesment of "jockeys" in general.

"not sure if" or "Don"t know if" should always be taken as " pretty sure that,," In other words, think is stuck or wont run or has problems x y or Z? Then dont try it, that way you can advertise it and say you didn"t know. As for the action deal, people who sell much on Ebay or other auctions know that in general reserves and high starting bids kill the bidding process so they turn to other less than up front tactics to allow there to be a bidding process yet retain ownership if the auction isn"t going the way they want it too. Call it what you wish but my name for it is lack of total honesty in dealings.
