Steven Crawford-bad seller

Bought a tractor over the phone from Steven Crawford of
Timpson Tx. I know, not a good idea but it has worked in the
past. I was told it started good and had power steering. I put a
deposit down for him to hold it till I got there. First thing I
checked when I went to pick it up was no power steering. He still
tried to claim it did have it. It was a 2020 JD so it is easy to tell if
it does have it or not. He had it running when I got there. I shut
it off and tried to start it again. Wouldn't start till he gave it a
shot of ether. It was in the 60's so it should have fired right off
without it after it was already warmed up. I pointed this and the
power steering out to him and he got real defensive and said he
wouldn't give back the deposit or come down on the price. He
said it wasn't that big a deal without the power steering but of
course I disagreed. The starting part-well I suppose with a shot
of ether it started good. To me that isn't starting good but that is
just a difference of opinions and I would have let it go but the
power steering was another matter. Either the guy was as dumb
as a stump if he thought it had it or was nothing but a liar. His
explanation was he was just a poor farmer trying to back a buck.
I paid him the balance rather than loose my deposit and was on
my way but would but I would suggest using caution if buying
from him.

Hope it works out for you. Most would have demanded their deposit back. If it was warm, it shouldn't have needed ether. Check if the air filter is clean.

He made it quite clear he wasn't giving the deposit back. It was walk away without it and be out my trip expenses or take it and hope I can make it all work out.

I agree at that temp it should have started right up.Shame the scams people pull trying to sell something
