Ebay: Marty 2374 (Marty Prill) Unprofessional.

Bob I am wondering why you paid with a money order when his ads says PayPal??? I don"t like PayPal that much either but I do use it on Ebay. Their system is setup for it and it works well for buyers. For sellers it is an added cost.

I will not take Money orders!!! They can be faked very easy these days. You might not know for several weeks that a money order is a fake.

Marty is crooked. I bought some parts from him a few times. He has opened cases agains me, even though it had only been 2 days and I was buying other parts from him and emailed him asking to pay for it all at one time. The parts ive bought and had shipped always show up damaged. I agree 100% marty is very unprofessional!

I have had nothing but good to say about Marty. I have bought several tractors and all have been exactly as he described them. When did this become an Ebay feedback site. I WILL purchase again from Paul . To many people expect a 60 year old part or tractor to be the same as new.

I've been debating if I should tell this story as I've certainly made a few good purchases from the man.

It was a couple years ago I was up to his place picking up parts I had won on ebay when I seen a 1066 at his place and when I asked him about the tractor he said it ran excellent ( super strong or words to that effect) and he would be parting it out soon.

So I told him to call me when he had the engine out as I was interested in a complete engine, turbo, manifolds, etc to transplant into another tractor. A couple weeks later he called and said the engine was out and ready if I still wanted it. I drove to his place on a Sunday and as I stood there looking at the (complete) engine (exhaust manifold, turbo ect), something told me not to make the purchase. It was just a gut reaction, nothing more. Marty was no where in sight, so I left.

He apparently seen me pulling out of the driveway and called because when I got back to the shop he had left a couple messages. I returned his call that night and told him I had simply changed my mind and for him to go ahead and part the engine out (as he usually does). The fact that I changed my mind didn't cost him any extra time except to perhaps set the engine down and pick it up once, and it didn't cost him any money as he would have parted the engine out anyway.

I could tell he was mad on the phone. The following week I see the engine in pieces, the head, the block, manifolds, turbo, etc all with good clear photos on Ebay. What I seen was shocking. 2 of the exhaust ports were blocked SOLID with carbon from oil consumption. Other parts of the engine showed obvious signs that is was not in good running condition. At best that engine was running on 4 of the 6 cylinders and most likely the reason the tractor was at his place being parted out.

Well as it turned out, I bid on some of the parts and won the head, crank, and front cover. He didn't put 2 and 2 together until I arrived to pick up the parts. You should have seen the look on his face when I stepped out of the truck and picked up that head. I didn't say anything at that moment because I just wanted to complete our deal on the parts and leave but he was having a FIT telling me how I cost him money by not buying the engine, etc, which to this day I still don't understand except he didn't get $1400 out of me for a worn out engine that he said ran excellent, rather he got about $200 for the head, crank and front cover. I really had to work at it to keep him from going completely off the rails. He was throwing things around but I kept very calm and handed him the cash and left.

Once I got in my truck and safely down the road I called him and told him I knew he tried to stick it to me and it was clearly obvious the engine had 2 dead holes at a minimum. He didn't really defend himself, he didn't say much at all. He knew that I knew what the real deal was.

I'd still buy from him. He's just one of those kind of guys where you can't allow yourself to be in a position where he can stick it to you, or he may.

Mark

Speaking for myself, and I believe everyone else on this thread, I am referring to Marty Prill of Bad Axe, Michigan (as stated in the Subject).

You just basically described too many that are in the tractor business. They usually start out doing the right things, but somewhere along the way they get it in their crazy head that MONEY is the only thing that is important. And it is always their money, your's does not matter. Funny how that works.
I have held back a story about a 730D ES that was up for sale by a guy that is well liked and runs several auctions a year in Western Georgia. I talked to him several times on the phone before he convinced me to make the trip. I asked that he not start it until I get there. Surprize, I get there and it was hot from running. All I can say is that he gave me answers that were very obvious lies. For instance, I wanted to check the oil. He said, "no need, I just checked it and it is full." I pulled the dip stick anyway and it was very milky. He looked at me, and said, "they all do that when they sit outside, they get a little mositure in the oil, but it clears up when it gets hot." (funny, the engine WAS hot)
The clutch shuttered, he said "all it needs is a little grease", the power steering pulled to one side, he said, "it just needs a little fluid". It had white puffs out of the exhaust, he said "they all do that, it is a diesel". I think you can see that if I had recorded his answers, no one would go near his place.
Oh well, if he can live with those lies, more power to him.
He was little miffed that I did not buy the tractor. Now that part was truly funny, like it was all about him.

Some time back, this guy was parting a 1456 and I probably had 12 or 15 things picked out that I was going to bid on but had questions about a couple of the items. One was the seat and the others were a pair of axle knees that he is selling individually.

First, I wanted to know if the seat cushions were OK and not cracked on the seat he's selling and, second, I wanted to know what the second knee looked like b/c he used the same picture on both listings.
(Not a similar picture, mind you... the SAME picture.)

[b:5005af4de2][u:5005af4de2]My question:[/u:5005af4de2][/b:5005af4de2]

[i:5005af4de2]Hello.
A couple questions...
What is the condition of the seat and back cushions? Are there any splits, cracks, etc. anywhere?
(I know the arm rests are bad)

Also - on your listing for the axle knees, you seem to have used the same picture and do not indicate which is which. They are not the same as the holes are indexed differently on them. Can you tell me which is which and also if any of the holes are egged out at all?
Thank you for your time.[/i:5005af4de2]

They are 2 different pictures, not the same

[b:5005af4de2][u:5005af4de2]My Reply:[/u:5005af4de2][/b:5005af4de2]

[i:5005af4de2]Hello, Seller.
I'm afraid I must respectfully disagree with you on the Axle Knee pictures. They appear to be on in the same, although they are shown in 2 different listings.

Also, can you get me an answer(s) to my original question(s) about the seat?

Thank you again for your time.

Respectfully,

Tom[/i:5005af4de2]

[b:5005af4de2][u:5005af4de2]Seller's Response[/u:5005af4de2]

I am not going to argue with you, I did these pictures myself and know what they are, sorry you are so stubborn on this matter, and want to argue over it. And the seat is just an old rough original seat. Marty[/b:5005af4de2]
[/color:5005af4de2]

I don't have a copy of my last reply b/c he didn't respond.
However, it was very polite and I told him that I, in no way, meant to be argumentative and that I didn't care if the seat was old, I would still like to know if the cushions were split out. I also suggested that he compare the 2 axle knee listings for himself.

I got no reply but [b:5005af4de2]he blocked me from messaging him and from bidding on any of his stuff...[/b:5005af4de2][/size:5005af4de2]

[b:5005af4de2]IMHO - The guy is a [u:5005af4de2]complete[/u:5005af4de2][/color:5005af4de2] tool and not to be trusted...[/b:5005af4de2][/size:5005af4de2]

My father (who lives 60 miles away) won a few items from Marty off eBay a while back. He called him up to arrange pickup and Marty said he would [b:cdc340cdd0][i:cdc340cdd0]be home all day[/i:cdc340cdd0][/size:cdc340cdd0][/b:cdc340cdd0] and to "call me when you get close and I will give you directions". My father repeatedly asked for an address to get online directions but he just kept saying call me.

So my dad headed out and when he got close he called and called and called and got no answer. So he went and had lunch there in town to kill some time and then called a few more times before Marty answered and said he wasn't home but [i:cdc340cdd0][b:cdc340cdd0]might[/size:cdc340cdd0][/b:cdc340cdd0][/i:cdc340cdd0] be home later in the evening. At this point my dad was livid and had a few choice words that convinced Marty that he was [b:cdc340cdd0][i:cdc340cdd0]suddenly home[/i:cdc340cdd0][/b:cdc340cdd0]......

My dad finally got there and the parts were not as described. He left without the parts and proceed to leave negative feedback on eBay. Marty filed a non-payment claim but after some exchanges with eBay they were taken care of. Luckily all he was out was a Saturday, and some gas money.

i for 1 believe evrything on here thats negative to marty..he wont combine shipping on any article no matter how small....email him about combineing, and he will activate the cone of silience...as for you guys who have no problems with him keep goin back it may be you on here next time.... as for being a feedback site for ebay....its pretty intresting to see how a man gets whacked and read the whole story about what was done to him, ebay wont let the whole deal be posted..tell marty to come defend himself on here..lets get it all out.like i told him i shoulda looked at your feedback score..he sure buys a lot to keep that score from dropping to el zilcho...
