Hi there,we are overhauling our D17 diesel,can someone tell us where a good cheap place is to get rings and all gaskets?Thank you in advance

You need to post your question on the Allis Chalmers Board, but my to cents is don't waste your time and money if you are not going to put sleeves and pistons in it. These engines need all the compresssion they can get due to the head design. I don't think you will gain much installing rings.I just did one and parts for these are not cheap.

Well now,aint it kinda funny that someone comes to a website like Yesterday's Tractor (which by the way, SELLS ENGINE KITS) and asks where to find an engine kit?? Ain't it like asking AOL where the best place is to get INTERNET??
I can excuse the mis-spelling of of "actually",but it's dang funny that ya can't even spell "MORON" right!!!

I believe you are being a little hard on him for simply asking a question.
Many people on here, new and old, ask questions that to others could be answered easily.
There are many parts and items that can be had on here, but are also available elsewhere. Do you only buy all of your parts and stuff on this site? Heck, if we all knew everything like you appear to, the site would not even be needed.
There may come a time when you ask a question that has a very handy and obvious answer, what then?
No one on here knows it all, although you could be the only exception. Pardon me if you are.

How was he supposed to react to a sentence that anyone would take as sarcastic? You could have said what others have in the past; Why not look on this site. No, I wouldn't agree it was a simple answer. You opened the door to your own critism with the latter sentence. He might have over reacted a little but had you not tried to be smart, he wouldn't have had any reason to call you names. Dave
Give it a rest! Keep in mind that an email shows no emotion. Granted the reply was poking a little fun, but it may not have been read in the same way it was written.
