H's with no factory PTO's

I got a 45 H with no PTO, its got a plate over where the shaft would be, no PTO lever.
So I'm guessing its origional, how usual is this on H s ?

Not real rare, but PTO was an option. Many farmers who had implements from earlier times had no PTO need. jim

My dad used the belt pulley when he was a kid to run a hammer mill, and they had a pickup baler with an engine. The mowing machine was about all they could use a PTO for. He custom baled a lot with the owner getting the hay mowed and raked and I think they had a neighbor rake their hay while they were out baling. Lot's of folks used their horse drawn sickle mower behind their new iron horse. Like you said, not a lot of real need.

PTO, belt pulley, hydraulic belly pump, electric lights, starter, and swinging drawbar were ALL extra cost options. If the original tractor buyer didn't need those options, he didn't buy them.
