yard mowers

I want to install a belly "mid-mount" mower on one of my farmalls and would like to see what some of y'all have , anybody want to share pictures of what they have. I have been considering building a 7-8' mower and put it under my super B ,C135, with live hydraulics and several more ponies than found factory on a B , the drawback is the pto, so should I consider a 340 or what? Thanks for any ideas and pictures,Jimmy.

So whats wrong with using the beltpulley drive for the Woods mower on a B just build a bigger deck. What are you planning on mowing as for a finish mower it would work just fine. Will you be using four spindles.

Sounds like a great idea! Is the area you need to mow smooth enough for a seven foot mower? You might want an anti-scalping wheel in front of each spindle to help in any rough areas. I didn't understand your PTO concern, unless it's a live PTO but having dead PTO's has never been an issue for me. More important would be how you plan to lift the mower for transport. Do you have a power steering pump or other hydraulics?

It will take some double pulleys on the spindles and a tripple on one to drive all four. I would use the Woods spindles as they will last and last and you can always get parts using the sff set pattern they use for three then just adding another one should work fine if three will cover 72 then adding another would easy make the 8ft or using shorter blades for the 59 four would be your 7ft Heavy casters could be made with roller in the center. Rear discharge should work. Another thing i would think about is using two drive belts from belt pulley that way transfer of power would be made easy as asking single belt to drive that much mite just be a problem. You have the hy on that block so thats no problem. You will need to extend the steering shaft length to clear the pump. Easy to do just get the one used on the A and cut for length or make an extension for the standard used on eht B. Ihave made them. Since you will have live hy why not complete the deal and add a Charlynn powersteering unit you will be in first class with that set-up. One more thing i made two 'DISCS' that have the bolt pattern for the rear wheels then welded them to 15in rims and use 235x15 tires on the rear. Then built a new pedestal to lower the front im lower to go under trees ect and smooth tread of car tires doesent tear up yd on turns. Hey go for it wish i was close to help sounds like a great project. have fun

One more thing i narrowed the B by removing left diff assy used the As shaft so unit is narrow and low you could also go to wide front for fun.

I have a Woods L306, 6 foot mower under a Farmall H. No lack of power, but in tough going, as in (I should have mowed last week but couldn't because of too much rain) the drive belt slips. I think a belly mower bigger than a 6 foot would just compound that problem.

This is my with a 7'artsway. I love it. Mow about 8 acres every week with it.
