Farmall H governor spring

My brother's H had some issues with his governor...in short the arm the spring hooks to broke off. He has the arm repaired, but is having issues getting a spring for it because it had the spring type that had the end on it that a pin went through....not just a simple spring that hooked at each end. He needs tractor ASAP. Will a standard spring that just hooks on both ends like what my M has work on an H also? I have a couple of those and would be able to get him moving again. Thanks for any input.

I 'experemented' with different springs when the spring or my SM broke.Different 'strength' gave different 'performance'.The
stronger the spring, the 'stronger' the tractor was.The RPM increased slightly.but it would take longer to pull down under
load. The waeker spring did just the oppisite. pull down quicker,Would not quite reach full rpm.It now has the right spring.

Regular governor spring from any H to 450, with hooks on both end will work fine. IH quit the pin type many years ago. Due to slight difference in repaired arm you may need to adjust max idle stop screw for correct high idle rpm's. And, a stronger governor spring always increases rpm's if replacing a weaker spring. The stronger a governor spring, the more sensitive a governor is, up to a point where it hunts etc and makes it difficult to control. Happy medium for everything.
