Another 560 Hydraulics Question

Before I start dissecting...

I understand how the hydraulic pump comes out, and that there's a "suction tube" that crosses from the pump to the filter side.

And that that tube has some kind of seal on it that is prone to failure on the filter side. (seems it's just a simple o-ring on the pump side - easy enough)

Try as I might, I can't find any information on repairing/replacing those seals - or replacement tubes.

If mine IS bad (I have a real bad "whine" going on) - is there anything I can do short of overfilling with fluid to bring the level up over the tube?

I'm very hesitant to pull it just to inspect it, in case it's still good - I don't want to risk damaging it.

Thoughts?

I just went through this with my, new to me, 560. The filter was wrong on mine and it didn't have the valve on it to let oil flow if filter plugs. Parts beek looks like pump and filter are right next to each other. I did get the tube you are referring to but I think it is on the pump side of the housing. The filter has an O ring that goes up against housing and spring on valve holds filter tight against it. Hope you get a good answer to your question. I have to pull pump as still not getting pressure. The tube I got has a seal on it that appears to be fastened or glued to the tube.

so the tube you got - was it new, or used?

That's what I'm trying to figure out - can it be found new? new old stock? or only from a parts tractor?

OR - is it repairable somehow?

I'm trying new fluid and a new filter first. My current filter doesn't look so good - and the bypass valve screen was clogged solid with gunk - so there's a very good chance the new filter will solve my problem.

But being the pessimist I am, I'm asking this question expecting that simple fix wont work, and I just want to be ready to go to step two if need be - I'm very anxious to get this tractor together and into the hay fields, cold weather's approaching quickly!

The tube with seal is on pump side. A new tube comes with seal on it as seal is not serviced separately. The seal has to be positioned on the tube because the same tube is used on many different tractors with many different pumps etc. The seal slides easily on tube by using a washer that just fits tube against back side of seal. The seal is a lip type and new, they fit very nice and snug in the tractor housing. Old seals get flat, hard, and don't seal good. Distance of seal on tube has to be calculated with chart furnished with tube or measuring , but, I usually adjust it so that , with tube installed in pump, when installing the pump, tightening the pump down will be final and correct movement of the seal. Lip of seal has to face out, toward pump as it goes into tractor housing. Seals often get damaged due to improper installation.

So are you saying the seals ARE available? I've searched the hydraulics section for the 560 on the Case IH sight and I can't seem to even find it in a schematic anywhere, so I can't find a part number.

Do you get them directly from CaseIH or is there a better source?

Thanks for the info.

I got a new tube with seal from IH, #395334R91, just noticed it was 69.30. The filter on mine was way plugged with stuff that looked like you might find in a sick baby's diaper. Valve with screen non existant and filter not like new one. Hoped putting new filter with valve in after cleaning area and new oil would help. Hasn't with mine so next step is to pull pump. Still have the tube but no directions on where to set seal as mentioned above

what kind of measurement should be used to place seal? the one I got was in a plastic bag with no directions. I assumed seal must go into housing between pump and filter is that correct?

If no instructions with the tube with seal, measure from the mounting point of the pump on the clutch housing, to the bottom of the bore seal goes into. Then measure from pump mounting plate, with pump installed. It takes about three hands and a ruler or square but can be done. Ordinarily, the seal on a new tube is set to the farthest point, so if you can guide the pump to get the tube started in that hole, it will push the seal along the tube as you gradually and evenly tighten down the pump. I like to get them set close to right though so it only has to move seal a bit if at all when installing pump. Part number is 395334R91 listed in 560 hydraulics, 219 hydra touch power supply. Seal not separate and tube lists for $65.00 with seal but you have to have a good seal to work. Something like prescription drugs. Switched wife from fentanyl patch to morphine to save money and holy cow, still cost $111.00 for 30 days. That is on top of all the other drugs needed. In the DONUT HOLE..

Thank you - life is so much easier with a part number!

Searching by name was getting me nowhere - between that and comments I read while searching, I thought I wouldn't be able to get a new one.

Thanks again.

Hey Pete 23, you've been a big help to me, especially lately on my 460. I'll keep you and your wife in my thoughts and prayers, and again, you have always lended a helping hand, and you deserve the best that life has to offer. Hugh

thanks Pete, helped me out also. when looking for filter setup I found an old time IH parts man who knew something about the change overs and all. Guys like you and him are hard to find who know about the older tractors. My dad was JD mechanic worked on all the old 2 cylinders and knew the stuff by heart. Unfortunately I didn't pay enough attention or write enough stuff down before he passed away.

Well, I'm sure I'll be right in your shoes soon enough - got my filter in today. Just waiting to get some hytran...

I think the trick is to buy the tube after the hytran, it almost makes it feel cheap.
