Hi,

We are so glad to find this website and forum.
(We apologize for our English as it is not our mother tongue)

We are french farmers involved in our country's national old plow competitions.
We are using a IH Little Genius plow n°8 with 2 bottoms. The moldboards are numbered SA 6104 BS 0Z.

We have trouble with the french plow judges as they withdraw us points everytime arguing that there is no evidence that those moldboards are genuine IH parts. This reference is unknown for them.

Therefore, we need to gather somme evidence/proofs that this reference was built by IH.
But we know the model we use was imported before 1950 (from the USA? Canda ? UK ? we don't know), and it is impossible to find the relevant genuine owner's manual or parts catalogues in France.

To sum up our situation, we are desperate to get some document that would attest that the reference SA6104 corresponds to IH moldboards !

Can you or anyone help us ?

Thank you for any answer you might provide us !

I have got a Number 8 plow, it's away from home but i will be there in a couple of days and see what number i have on the back side of the moleboard!

Thank you for your help !
I have just read a 2008 chat in which someone has a similar refernce number.
It might have been a serie mainly manufactured for Eastern Canada and New England...

Nearly any IH plow bottom can be used on most IH plows. Because of the large number of possibilities, plow manuals often did not have specific information on bottoms. The existing bottom on any other #8 plow may not be of any help.

I should have a chance to check my reference material this evening and probably be able to find the information you need.

Hi Jim,
It would be great if you find any IH paper (manual, catalogue, whatever) that mentions a moldboard referenced SA6104 !
Thx for your help.

There were many IH moldboards used on the Little Genius plow. Almost any would work if you have the frog for it. A Little Genius will bolt right up to the frogs for everything from the old cast iron plows to the Plow Chief, right up to the latest Super Chief plows.

Do you know if you have cast iron, or steel moldboards?

In My 1945 No8 manual the SA series prefixes are all for "Steel frog "BREAKER" bottoms". they do not however go higher than SA4068 for a 16" solid bottom.

I have the old parts book and those numbers do not show up any where. The SA prefix just doesent show up. Sorry i cant help more

nlanter -- I have an instruction manual and parts list for a McCormick-Deering No. 8C adjustable
beam plow. printed - International Harvester Company of Canada ltd. Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
part# 1 003 815 R2, I believe the date is 6-10-46--3B.. (E. Canada & Export)..It shows the
moldboard as part # SA 6104 A. Is this info of any help to you..

Proved to be a hard number to find. I am in the US and suspect it may have only been a Hamilton, Ontario, Canada part. I found the SA6104A version of it on microfiche. It is a moldboard for Ace,Rex, GA and HA bottoms.

These are not real easy to read. If you want higher resolution copies, give me your email address and I will send them. I can also provide some proof that Ace and Rex bottoms were used on the Number 8 plow.

If you can get copies of some pages from shorty38, you probably don't need what I found.

Hello Shorty,
A scanned copy of the original manual mentioning the SA6104 mold would be the perfect thing for us !
Can you send it to me by email (address is [email protected])
Thank you so much for your answer already.

Hello again Jim,
I'm very grateful to see you've carried out that research for us.
The microfiches copies are great and I hope our judges will accept them.
Is it possible to send them to our email address :

Thank you very much !
You're a star.

These are steel moldboards.
The reference is SA 6104 [b:71560775b0]B[/b:71560775b0] (not A)

If anyone has a paper mentioning the SA 6104 [b:43213aca0a]B[/b:43213aca0a] reference, it would be perfect for us.

But the docs mentioning the SA 6104 [b:43213aca0a]A[/b:43213aca0a] reference should already help us convince our judges...
