Super C wide front end

How rare is a wide front end for a Super C? What might I expect to pay for one? Saw one on a tractor at the fair last week, got to thinking it might be nice to get one for my Super C, my ground is hilly in places.

Not too "rare".However,if you think a wide will be safer on hills, you are wrong! That is just an opticle illusion. It will give you a false sence of security, you will venture onto steeper hills......The only 'benefit' is the pivot point is two feet higher. It will still tip.If it's too steep for a narrow front,it's too steep for a wide. Be Safe!

The advantage on hilly ground for a wide front end is that your turning radius becomes wider and might keep you out of trouble in a bad spot. It does smooth out the jolts compared to a narrow front. (Rough, plowed ground, groundhog hole, etc.)

John,Here is another wide front SC for you.My wifes tractor. The wide is handy for rakeing hay/turning windrows. The second pic is her(and the tractor) first 'pull'. This was a "fun pull"/play day for club members only. She pulled several times(great practice/experience).She did'nt worry about big crowds and 'competion'.LOL

Glad to see others recognize the wide fronts are not safer. They are also less maneuverable. And you always have to fix a flat on the front to keep moving. But they do ride smoother on rough ground.

Think your way through this move. As my SC is a parade & tractor ride machine, I converted it from tricycle to WFE. I'm surprised at how much harder it steers. Then too, as others mentioned, it now has a much larger turning radius, but does ride better. The factory WFE is a pretty flimsy design, but sure makes the tractor look cool! I think I gave about $500, plus $150 shipping for my WFE, but that was 8 to 10 years ago. It doesn't have a bend, weld nor crack in it - been treated with kid gloves all it's life I guess.

The price will vary due to location and condition just how bad you want to have one. Some think it will stop rollovers but unless you have it set way wide it isnt going to stop and with it wide where do you have room to store, haul ect.

Thanks for the comments, all. It was just a thought but now I see that a WFE is not as desirable as I maybe thought it was. Never thought about it being harder to steer.
