cotton picker header one row

I just googled M12H - what a strange implement setup! Presumably, it needed a dedicated tractor as the rear wheels were reverse-tread and the steering mechanism was alterered to allow the driver to face aft.

I'm guessing it must have only had one speed (i.e. the tractor's reverse gear).

Very odd - but cool. Never seen one in the flesh, but we have not cotton farming in the North.

If you can find a date code on one of the associated castings, you can use this letter suffix decoder to find out when it was made:

The era in which it was made works with this list.

Yes, the cotton picker was mounted on a dedicated tractor. The tractor has special drop axle housings with gear drive inside which reverses the tractors direction, thus you now have 5 gear forward and 1 reverse.
