If it is aluminum, it is a Carter. The Carter is not a very desirable carburetor. A Zenith is better, and much easier to find.
 
Some of the Carters were equipped with iron tops. I am not sure if it was an upgrade to fix the problem or they came oem on some models. I imagine the fix on yours was with epoxy which probably won't hold very well. If it is not too bad it can be bushed with a brass fitting.

The best cure is a rebuilt Zenith as Rustyfarmall said or Marvel-Schebler iron carburetor. You might be able to get an iron top for yours, I have no information on the specifics or which model you have. We need the manufacturer and model since a number of types were used on Super Cs plus yours may not be original.

Now if you are stubborn, perseverate, and a penny pincher like me you can ###@-xx!@## it.

One of the repair kits for a Carter UT series consists of a piece of wire or rope. You feed it through the openings, tie it off, stand next to a pond and sling it as far as you can over the water. lol
 
I would agree with that one. I messed with a Carter the first year I had my Super C. Took it off and got a Zenith. That thing has never missed a beat in 6 years with the exception of a new needle and seat. Find out what you have and let us know. I still have my old Carter if I can find it.
