Farmall F-20 Sleeves

I have a Farmall F-20. I am trying to remove the sleeves, however they are completely rusted in. I used a rust penetrating fluid, then used a sleeve puller, as well as a block of wood and sludge hammer. Needless to say, they haven't moved an inch. Do I have any options other than to take it to a machine shop? Thanks.

Keep working at it, new replacement sleeves for a f20 are non existent. There was a run made a number of years ago and have seen them sell as high as 1500 a set... hope you have found replacements.

You will have to use a press to remove those sleeves. I have removed dozens of sleeves out of F20s, F30s, 10-20 etc using a 20 ton press. All the sleeves I removed required a significant amount of pressure to get them to pop loose and some needed almost the full 20 ton to get them loose.

if you are not trying to save them --take your stick welder and pull up a bead of weld starting as close to the bottom( as far as you can reach )do 3 to 4 welds in each cyl. they will in turn shrink and come right out --dont burn thru though -- works every time -- good luck !! Roy

The clutch is easy. Just unbolt it from the flywheel. I think though you mean, how do you remove the flywheel. For this you will need a puller. With the help of Nebraska Kirk, I made a puller and installer that use an 8 ton hydraulic jack. Search here, Kirk has posted pics a few times.

You can use this tool to also pull the crankshaft out of the block.

Here are a couple pictures. The first is my puller. The second is the installer.

It takes a good heavy duty puller but they will come. I tighten the screw up all it will stand and then go have a cup of coffee, Once it breaks a crack you have won.

(quoted from post at 07:11:17 08/31/15) is that a regular bottle jack or a ram........thanks dewy

I use a plain ol' ordinary bottle jack, works just dandy! Looks like that is what Brian uses too.
