Farmall M Fire Crater Carburetor Changeover Question

Working on a 1947 M and have installed NOS Fire Crater pistons along with Fire Crater distributor changeover parts to change the advance.

Next to install are Fire Crater carburetor changeover parts.

The brass tag on the carburetor has P/N 50983DC.
Fuel bowl casting has P/N 6514DA cast in it.

According to the parts catalog, 50983 is a gasoline carb but the 6514 P/N is a distillate/kerosene fuel bowl complete. A gasoline fuel bowl complete is P/N 8713DA or DAX.

Is there a fuel bowl with 8731 cast into it I need to get if it even exists?

Or by changing a couple of pressed in seats included in the Fire Crater kit on a 6514 carburetor bowl do I end up with the correct parts for an M Fire Crater gasoline carburetor?

Use what you have and install the metering stem for the fire crater kit. If the venturi for the fire crater kit is different, install that also. I've rebuilt many M carburetors. Only difference I could ever see between the distillate and gasoline carbs was the metering stem, and those interchange readily.

The fire crater kits always contained a new main jet and new needle. The jet is slightly larger and the taper in the seat and needle is different than original equipment. Kit should also contain, air bleed, idle jet and nozzle. I don't know of any difference in the bowl either. When they sell a bowl it will have the main jet and air bleed installed and thus you have different part numbers for gas or distillate.

Since the bowl part numbers don't have any screw on parts the only difference in the two is the main seat and air bleed size. Not much difference in the sizes.
Fire crater sizes, idle jet .022, air bleed .061, main seat .061, discharge nozzle top hole .069, middle .043, bottom .063, discharge nozzle tip .136.
Correction, Wrote down where I measured some air bleed in the past as .061 but IH info says .0635 after looking this mourning.

Thanks for your help and information. I will go ahead with installing the parts from the Fire Crater carb kit into the carburetor I have.
