Glow plugs for a 656/ D-282

I"ve got to replace the glow plugs. What do you all recommend? Go with the stock, or is there something out there that works better?
I"ve gone through the archives here and haven"t really found a good answer.

I could be 100% wrong here, but I swear I remember reading that people used glowplugs out of 7.3l ford trucks as an upgrade on the old IH motors

Typically, the 6.9 or early 7.3 glow plugs are "fast heat" and will burn out/blow up/burn the tip off if operated manually for beyond a short time.

A better choice would be Bosch Duraterms, they are self-regulating and can tolerate manual operation. IIRC, #80034's will fit.

Better verify that, tho!
