Went and inspected a 1956 Model 400 Sunday, for sale here locally. Tin and tires look really good, but the thing won't run properly. Once started, it makes black smoke and dies when the throttle is opened. The owner is not very mechanically inclined, and I am reluctant to fiddle with his tractor. The carb's clearly got problems and Lord knows what else. The TA lever is removed (he has it) but no idea whether it works or not. The owner has 3 point attachments for the fast hitch and the hydraulics do work.
I am no expert on these models.... what's a good sale value? The carb can easily be fixed, and I presume the tractor can be used without the TA working properly.
