This is a stupid question due to im not familiar with Farmalls.
I need a sleeve kit,and they sell flathead and stepped head kits
My block is stepped, but head is flat
Is this what they are referring to or flathead vs overhead valves??/
Thanks for the clarification
pete

flat head has valves inside the block and not overhead or over the head. flat head has a cast , heavy metal on top. other has a light weight metal valve cover on top

Pertains to the piston top. Flat head piston is flat on top and a step head has part of the top raised and gives more compression than a flat head.

D Slater is correct. Today's fuels are higher in octane than the regular of the time the tractors were created (effectively by several pump numbers) increasing the compression is very desirable, and will produce extra power and better economy at all speeds with no adjustments to other systems. The other answer is correct, but not germane. Jim

SP125 combines had a Continental 6 cyl flathead. Much earlier, Waukesha engines were used and were flathead. Jim
