What is the best way to clean a belly pump I was thinking about just soaking it in gas and filling it up with gas while its off to clean will this work well? And how do you line the belly pump back on? i already got my transmission cover back on with all the forks lined up in the groves of the sliding gears I was just curious ab the belly pump?

I am curious is that a H or a M ? A, H is much easier to hook up the drive, than it is on a M Farmall. As far as cleaning the inside i would use stanasol .

Gas will work, but the fire danger is not good. Kero or diesel is less volatile and will be better. The alignment can be made :reasonable with a series of couplings and 6inch nipples of pipe that thread into the fill pipe. as the pump is raised, the pipe segments align the top heavy reservoir, and with a jack, or 4 threaded rods, the pump will go up well. align the drive as it gets close. First of all, if I had it out I would put in a new seal and replace the bushings. If you are careful you will be able to save the gasket, if not CaseIH still has them. To reinstall, cut a board 1 and 7/8 inch wide and about 16 or 18 inches long. Put it in the slot between the cultivator brackets. Slide a 1/2 inch pipe through the holes and hit it so that it makes a mark on the board. Drill a 7/8 hole in the board. Then put it back between the brackets and slide the pipe through. This gives you much better control and leverage aligning the pump as it is jacked up into the tractor. I always put something sticky on the drive piece to hold it in. Good Luck, Ellis

Adjust yourself to fact that one man will have a difficult time. THis thing is Awkward. Personally I use my two teen-age boys. But install short pieces of threaded pipe and merchant coulings / nipples, I think 3/4" size, in where the oil fill connection is on the pump, and build this up into the hole in the transmission torque tube. That stabilizes the pump, so it can't fall over sideways. THis is a BIG help. Then you just have to jack it up, or push it up, or use all-thread rods in the torque tube to pull it up. I know a former IHC service man who used to single-handedly hold the pump up with one arm, while he threaded in the little bolts with theother hand.

I did one on a 49 m by myself one time. It took three tries and when I finally got a bolt in I was shaking so bad I had to wait a few minutes to finish. I was about 26 27 yrs. old and in retrospect not too bright. Never tried that again.

(quoted from post at 17:59:31 08/17/15) And how do you line the belly pump back on?

I made a support to fit my floor jack and just jack it into place.

It is an easy 1 person job that way.
