M fifth gear

M won't stay in 5th gear pulling or going down hill, tip of shifter is good. If necessary to replace gear is it possible to do without doing a split? thanks Pete

Yes you can change without splitting. Gotta remove the cover,(and everything associated with the cover),the belly pump, drive shaft, then you can get your too shaft out, then lower if needed.

Check the transmission main shaft pilot bearing first. Often times that bearing is all that is needed to keep it in 5th.
