Farmall 300 will crank but won't fire with key

Tractor will roll start in just a couple feet and will turn over just fine with key but won't start. Any ideas?

Try checking voltage to the coil with switch in crank position. Or run a temporary jumper wire from big wire post on starter switch to the coil and see if that helps. If it does check switch, connections and power wire to coil to locate problem.

Small battery cables can let the voltage drop, and though cranking, no start. Cables need to be 0 or 00 gauge. Jim

So how many volts are at the batt side of the coil when the key is turned. That would be a great place to start

Simply check your spark when it is spinning over with the key. Almost bet it will not be a blue/white in color and will not jump a 1/4 inch gap. If that is the case likely that the starter is pulling to many amps and robbing it of spark.
