When is it time to adjust valves on H?

Finally got my H running pretty good. It can idle down really low and keep running, but occasionally there's an irregular beat. Is that something that can be cured by a valve adjustment?
Thanks.

(quoted from post at 19:18:38 08/07/15) if it runs good, do not mess with it.
Yeah it's been a long frustrating job getting all the gremlins out. It's a working dependable tractor now, better just be happy with that. Lol

I'm also a firm believer in the, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
and old tractors have powerful engines built to take a load and last a long time,
but not very efficient, and for sure not computer controlled smooth.....

however....

adjusting or checking the valves on a solid lifter engine is a basic maintenance job.
Every old tractor I buy gets it done right away, because it seems to be one of those jobs that is always ignored.
only takes a few minutes.....fixing a burnt valve takes considerably longer.
