WD 6 fuel issue

My brother has a WD 6 that we recently swapped the engine on with a TD 6. He says he has it running fine on gas, but when he switches to diesel he can't get any fuel flow
into the injectors. The transfer pump seems to be working OK because when he cracks the line going from the transfer pump to the main pump he has pressure and fuel. I
told him to remove the lines at the pump and pour the towers full of diesel to see if that helps. He told me that the fuel he poured on top of the towers doesn't even
bubble when he does that.

Any suggestions as to what may be wrong with it?

Thanks in advance.

BTW, He is currently on a business trip and that is why I am writing this post.

there cant be air in the system or she wont run. first you need the fuel level in the tank higher than the filters. then bleed the sediment bowl using the vent.then bleed the primary filter the one closer to tank by opening the vent on top, let the fuel gravity feed to fill it.once you have fuel close vent and start tractor on gas. open secondary filter vent and bleed till fuel comes out. it will be spraying out under pressure. once no air left close and swith engine to diesel and will run. till you know you have no air in system you cant make other decisions.

I'll add one more comment to rustred. When you get all air out per his instructions, advance the diesel speed control a little, but leave the switchover lever in gas position. When you see white smoke, you know you have diesel to the cylinders. Then move the changeover lever to diesel and it should run.

also , there is a small brass screen that is behind the plug in tranfer pump right beside the sediment bowl. that should be checked and cleaned.

Sounds like the rack/plunger is stuck. Need to pull the cover off the pump to remove plunger assembly to clean it. He needs to gey a pump manual.

yes that is the next step if no fuel going to injectors. i just finished unsticking my farmall M TA after it sat for over twenty years. boy that rack was really stuck. but ya if that motor sat around that is very well the problem.
