b450 diesel injector pump problem

have been working on my b450 for a couple yrs or more . finally got engine assembled, including ejectors and head rebuild. tractor will run a few turns and quit. a friend with knowledge to work on injector pumps has tractor at his shop, he says something is broken in side pump. my question is what other tractor has this type pump (cav??) . or a source for a pump for parts. thanks

He "works" on injection pumps and doesn't know where to get Delphi parts? RUN!

If you just reassembled everything, make sure you have all the air out of the lines. I owned a B450 around 35 years ago, and parts were hard to come by back then. The glow plugs have to be working and be on for atleast 1 min for it to start and keep running right. Also make sure that the air governor is working and not closed off. It's in the air pipe to the air cleaner. There's not a governor in the injector pump. When you say a few turns, does that mean it try's to start or will run for a min or longer? One other thing that I had a problem with was the fuel lift pump was not working , the fuel pump bolted on the side of the injector pump, had a small hole in the diaphragm and would not pump enough fuel to the injector pump. Back in the 1970's could not find a lift pump for a B450 but used the same internal parts in the lift pump on a 175 Massey Ferguson diesel. At one time Smith's in Mayfield Ky. had a B450 parted out. 1-270-247-2219. I don't know ,he might still have a few parts.
