the 1948 cub i posted about a few days ago looks like its going to take some time to fix, in the meantime i found a really nice 1958 cub, owner had lots of receipts for work already done as well as sporting a new paint job, on the serial number there is a J at the end, any ideas what that designates? new cub needs a little tweaking to finish, throttle doesnt work right and the seat is scrap, but other than that its real nice... so far.. i bought it right out of its shop a little before it was totally finished, but he needed some money and i needed a cub, fast. old cub will be repaired and spruced up as time allows, then whichever one i decide i'll keep , i'll sell the other one

thank you, my other cub has just the serial number so i wanted to know what that meant, got a few other issues to work out, nothing serious though

There was no real "better" or "worse" to it, simply two different suppliers. After this many years, could be anything in it now. The only way to know is to look inside.
