Removing Farmall H gear shift

Restoring an H, I have attempted to do a search as well as look at parts book. Don't want to make a bad mistake.

Do you just punch out the about 1/2" diameter pin at the base of the lever. Down towards the platform?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Original pin has caps on either end, punch them out and the pin will come out. Sloppy shifter repair kits are (or were) available on eBay around $20 and made a huge difference on
my 300.

Thanks for the reply. So the 1/2" or so diameter are really just caps or plugs??? The pin is behind the cap or plug?

That pin punch's out horizontally, but that usually doesnt wear much, while u put a little down pressure on the shifting tower.

It usually wears a lot. It was regular repair to replace the pin and the larger pin inside the smaller one goes through in shift lever. Also, the hole pin goes through in the casting wears bad and that is what the sloppy shifer kit takes care of .I have my own method but of repair but the sloppy shift kit is simple.

Well i have had two tractors here with a undersized bolt in them , I figured they must be really wore out, I think what happened over the years, is they welded on the bottom of the shifting tower, [a little to much] so when i bought the new parts i had to grind off the bottom of the tip and bingo the new parts went in. So the old pivots i took out were good, but got rid of that stupid bolt in there.

There can be grooves worn in the pin so as said push down on the shifter and get everything loose to get the pin out, don't just drive on it.
