Decal placement for an F-20

Does the top one usually go ac-crossed the back of the differential cover?
Do the bottom two go on the end of the gas tank?
Where does the gasoline decal go?
I do have the PTO extension, so does the white one go on the shield?
Where should the Patent decal go?
The rest of them I have figured out where they go.
Thank you

THe answer to your first question is "yes". Yes to the second, altho' I have seen them in various postions. I have the gasoline decal on the tank under the fuel cap, but not sure if this is correct, since that originally was for kerosene. The patent and pto decals were not included in any of my f20 decal sets, so don't know about that. Hopes this helps somewhat.

I would throw most of those away and get the correct decals from Bob Currie in California. He has the most original and accurate decals you can get. The ones you have are just the generic set that every one has.

Patent one has been suggested to go at the very bottom of the rear of the fuel tank.

NONE Of the F series tractors came with the PTO warning decal. That was a later addition....to the best of my knowledge.

If you figured out that the "oil level" decal goes on the oil pan you figured wrong. It goes in the trash. It's for the early Regular air cleaner cup that is not embossed with that message.

If you are happy with your decals, go right ahead and use them contrary to what others think. These decals are on my original F20.

Mine has a stupid aftermarket seat that was bought shortly after the tractor was bought new, that's the piece you see in the rear differential cover picture.

(quoted from post at 15:16:36 08/02/15) Got a contact info for Bob Curry for decals?

Anyone seen a FARMALL 30 decal? I am looking for two of them.

FARMALL 30 was only used by the advertising department, was never actually used on a production tractor.

What year is your 20, some decal placements changed during production. Its all in the "Regular and F series collectors originality guide" book, but copies of that are bringing big bucks right now. Going off pics of other tractors can lead you astray as most of them were repainted and got new decals many times.

Nothing stupid about aftermarket seats. Some of them are a big improvement over the original and make interesting conversation pieces. What brand is yours? Looks like the base of a Knoedler.

Viewing the photos of the decals on the fuel tank, I see they aren't the same either. Interesting since they're both original.

Everyone needs to remember something 36F30 said. Many of these tractors have been repainted. The IHC dealers during the "off" season, basically winter, had a repaint program. That is why a lot of the early gray tractors are now red.

While the production floor at the IHC tractor works plant may have been attentive to the paint committee memo on decal placement, the dealer paint jockeys weren't.

Bottom line is, read the originality guide, or go to the Wisconsin archives and read the paint committee memos.......if you want to be "correct". Cowman and 36F30 have pretty much nailed this....I am just agreeing with them.

The pic of the back of the fuel tank on that F-20 shows its a repaint. You can just make out part of the patent decal under the 'be careful' black and white decal. Its been repainted

Obviously I have already purchased the decals. I will used what I have. My Aunt is the only one who I need to impress, and I am sure she will be. It was her husband (my Uncle) who had wanted to restore this tractor.
Thank you for your input and I will review your replies a few more times before I try to install any of them.

Steve, you are 100% SPOT ON. Get them close, they will look just fine. If you don't have a copy of the originality book for the F-series, I do. If you send me a private message with a phone number, I would be happy to call you and look up the listed placements. Your choice. It is NOT the end of the world if some of the decals are not properly placed. If they are close, you will be fine for most of the viewing public............
