Where is the beat place to buy Hydraulic oil type 303 special oil. I inherited a John Deere 2010
and need to fill up the oil level. I know this is the Farmall board but you are a lot more help full then the JD guys. I guess I will have to just stick with you guys even though I have a green on now too.
Thanks

Most any farm and home place should have it. By the way the JD 1010 and 2010 where John Deere's problem child's and the parts are hard o find and cost a lot more then most do.

DEERE now calls that oil Hy-Gard. For your simple tractor without a wet clutch or wet brakes, IH Hytran,or any decent UTF (Universal Tractor Transmission and Hydraulic Fluid) from a farm supply store are all basically equivalent.

Nothing "special" about 303. It's one of the cheapest hydraulic oils you can buy. i think it's pretty much straight 20 w oil. I buy it for $1.50 a qt or less and use it in my old Farmhand loader. i use it for motor oil in show tractors.

They do have a bad rep, but they're not all bad! We've had a 1010 and 2010, both gas, for 20+ years. Our main two tractors for doing hay and never any trouble with either one above general maintenance.

Your one of the lucky few. I have a 1010 that is only part and was that way from the get go.
