ihc 300 ign timing

we have a 300 farmall 6v pos grd. There are 3 timing notches on the pully 2 are close together and 1 is far apart. I assumed as the engine rotates clockwise the first of the 2 that are close would be TDC and that is where I set it using a timing light however as you bring it up to full throttle it dosent move to the one far apart.Does that mean that the centrifgal. advance is not working or didnt I set it right. it just stays on the first mark.

That 3 rd mark that is, 180 degrees apart is for lining up the flywheel at the 6, O'clock position to grease your Pilot bearing, up from the bottom.

3 notch pulley on a 300, turning engine in normal rotation the first mark reaching the pointer is for distillate engines and the 30 degree setting at full RPM. Next is 22 degrees for gasoline. If you have a gas that's the one it should get to at full RPM. Last one is TDC.
Late H tractors that used the same flywheel as the SH, along with 300 and other tractors didn't use a pilot bearing that you could grease like earlier tractors.

Well the book says No 37 is Pilot Bearing Lubricator, Didn't the first M's have a brass bushing in there to hold up the nose of the transmission shaft, I know the old flathead Ford did, and once that brass bushing was worn, the transmission input shaft would flop around, and knock the front bearing out of the 3 speed manual.

H and M tractors used a ball bearing for a pilot bearing. A grease zerk on the outer edge of the flywheel was provided to grease that bearing. The front side of the clutch disk has a grease slingger on it to keep excess grease from getting on the friction material. The grease was throne off into a groove in the flywheel which has a few holes in it to allow the grease to be thrown out of the flywheel.
