The original subject was "Re: Super A gas cap slosh leaking".

I realize that this is a very old thread but thought I would reply anyway. I just bought a Farmall Super A, Mod. FAA. I went to the free gas cap site and it is still up. I filled out the information requested and submitted. Form states that the program will run indefinitely. Thought some would like to know that. Happy plowing, OT

I filled out the request a couple years ago for my SA and got the replacement cap about 2 weeks later. It still slosh leaked, so looked it over good and realized that the filler neck needed some fine tuning with a screw driver (to pull out the bent stop ears) and hammer (to drive down the inner ring to pull the cap down tight on the outer rim).

Every one I have done has come within a week. I bet something didn't go through with yours.

I don't have a new one for an old A I have so I should get on that. I've found that they fit tighter. It's a good thing they are taller as I need the hand space for gripping.

When the fuel cap replacement program was started every dealer was shipped a tool to reform the gas tank filler opening. IH really wanted the customer to bring the tractor to the dealership so that the tank could be inspected along with replacing the fuel cap.

I have a Super C with the old, flat gas cap that leaks all the time when I go up and down hills. But the trouble is the serial number plate is gone on mine and I think the serial number is required on the application for a new gas cap. How do I get around this problem?

I had that situation. On the paper form, I wrote a note that the serial was gone and gave them the engine number. It was no problem.

The online form doesn't have space for a note. You could probably put "No serial, engine FCM123456" in the serial number field.
