CUB hydralic question.

With my 1977 cub if you push the leaver to the front the lift bars roll nicely to the front. When you pull the leaver all of the way back the engine speed drops a little as the bars now roll to the rear. Everyone I have asked with a cub or A says this is normal. I was wondering if the screen in the unit may have crud in it. See what you folk think?

my 48 will do that too, when i bought it it did have the screen plugged on it, if its plugged it will "hunt" when you try to maintain a set height, and cycle up and down, at least thats what mine did, apparently the p o didnt know the screen was even there and needed to be cleaned

Yup, normal, there is a retarder to prevent implements from dropping suddenly. When weather is real cold it is really slow going down till it runs a few minutes and warms the fluid.
