I have a friend with an H, #FBH321598X1. Question is: What do the letters FBH mean? What does the X1 mean? Thanks for any help on these questions.

Good question, the F=Farmall the B is unknown to me,The H @ M is for appropriate tractor.I am sure they had a reason.

If you look under the No. 1 spark plug you'll see a raised boss, with the engine number stamped on it. It should be the same number. MIght be different if you have a replacement engine. That number ought to be a 1949 model. You can verify that, if you can find a numbered 1/2" x 3" raised label, cast in the heavier cast iron parts. Might read something like *4*12*S* which means that piece wsa cast at the foundry April 12, 1949. S means 1949.
