Farmall C no Spark

Hello all, ol tractors been sitting for past 10yrs without being started. I had installed new points and condenser cap and rotor back then, and had no spark.

Yesterday I bought new ignition wires, sanded contacts on points and there were fine but still nothing. Although the distributor shaft is worn a bit, I opened gap a bit further than .020" and still nothing.

I have a charged 6V battery and power up to distributor and did a continuity test on outside and inside of bolt running through dist body and I'm at a loss.

I have a small field to disc and need to get this ol girl going and would appreciate any and all help. Thank you. Ernie

If its a battery powered coil distributor ignition instead of a Magneto, instead of guessing or throwing parts at it, you may want to work through my Ignition Troubleshooting Procedure to find the cause without any fancy or expensive test equipment or meters etc.

With the points close take the ignition side wire off the coil. Then turn it on and touch the wire back to that post on the coil and watch for a spark do that a number of times and hold the center wire of the cap close to the block as you do that. Every time you remove the wire you should have a spark from the coil wire. If you do then turn the engine enough to open the points and do that again. You should not get a spark form either wire with the points open. If you get a spark you have something shorted in the distributor like the spring strap etc.
