So you have a better idea of the problem here are a few pictures of it. I could split the nut but if I do then how would one put an new nut on with the likely hood of the bolt part it is on is also stripped out??
Thanks

First the nut to take the bearing and everything off is left handed. Once you have the nut off, the whole assembly should come off. Remove the bolts that hold the assembly together to separate the bearing supports and then you can take the pittman arm piece off and get a replacement. Sometimes you have to separate the two bearing supports to get it off the flywheel pin. I am not real sure but I may have one at my farm. Only problem is it is 2 hours away. Post here if you would like me to look the next time I go up there which may not be until August 3.

From your previous post, the shaft going into the flywheel is loose. You might be able to get to the front side of the flywheel and be able to tack weld it to the flywheel with nickle rod. Then you could remove the nut. Otherwise you will have to split it like the others said in the previous post.

The shaft does not turn but the nut does so the nut is stripped out. Also the end of the bolt area looks like it has been hammered so maybe that was some ones answer to keeping the nut on.

Checked with Case/IH today and the nut they can get but it cost $64 for a nut. M05 is the part number. I need part numbers MB 22199 and M 42387 both no longer able to get

Rich, The same place you got the spacer for the 656 axle/differential repair you did earlier this year. Send me an email if you need more information but you will have to go through a CaseIH dealership in order to obtain one from the Parts Depot as they don't do direct sales, Hal.

Thanks I now have them book marked and also have the part coming in by way of Crown Power and Equipment out of Eldon.
By the way the guy who owned that 656 turned around and traded it off for a bigger tractor after he got it back
