Hi,
My uncle told me the other day the 766 is leaking coolant into oil so he can't run it. The head gasket did have to be replaced recently because it blew a plume of black smoke out of the exhaust and it began allowing coolant in the oil then after the head gasket was replaced it ran fine for awhile then as of late it's right back to it. I was talking to my neighbor who is a new holland mechanic and his assumption is a warped head and/or scoring and pitting inside the sleeves so a rebuild kit would probably be the best bet. If the engine were need an overhaul what would the ball park figure be for a rebuild on a D360 be after parts and labor are factored in or let's figure he buys another head for a D360 how much are they? It's my guess while the engine is torn apart other things need to be looked at as well considering the engine hasn't been gone through since 1980 when it had a complete overhaul after the first owners trashed the engine due to a lack of maintenance. If the repairs are worth more than the tractor I would certainly like to buy it and have it overhauled myself. Thanks for any help! -Neil
