does anyone make a farmall 6 volt magneto coil. would like to have two, one for a farmall M and one for a farmall a

No such thing. You can have a distributor coil but mot a magneto coil that is 6 volts since a mag makes it own power to make the spark by way of magnets and how it is wired. If you need a distributor coil that is 6 volts those are of the shelve parts at any good auto parts store

(quoted from post at 18:21:09 07/25/15) i thought that there was a coil in the magneto

There is but since a mag is a self contained unit (ie not connected to your electrical system) the voltage of said system doesn't effect the mag's coil in any way.

The one that Kirk linked should be what you need. Had one fail in a cub this spring. We just used an external coil and made into a battery ignition. Used the points and condenser in the magneto for timing, etc. Have done several, works good.

And do not connect 6volts to it in any way. The terminal on the side is to ground it to stop the engine. The switch is a Kill switch, has one terminal, and connects to ground through the switch body. Jim

i suppose that i do not know what i need. lol i am looking for the coil (whatever) that is inside the magneto/ maybe not 6 volt. ????

The link above is what you need.

What we're telling you is it doesn't matter if your tractor is 6, 12, 24 or 1000 volt, the coil is the same in all applications.

on my M farmall, someone has connected a 6 volt coil to the kill switch terminal on the magneto. it is working. do not know what they have done to the inside.

If there is an external coil connected, the magneto coil (inside magneto) is no longer being used, and is most likely not there, along with the core for it. To keep it as is you simply need a 6 volt ignition coil. To make it original you need the internal magneto coil, probably a core for the coil, and remove the 6 volt lead to coil, and run a wire from a kill switch (applies ground) to the side of the magneto. switch and replace it

can an electronic ignition be installed? so that tractor will look original.

The added coil is being used as a conventional battery ignition. It has been """converted""" because the Mag coil, or other internal parts failed. This conversion, just uses the points ad possibly the condenser, in the mag to control a regular coil. It (now) does get voltage from the ignition switch (which had to be changed from the mag kill switch). fixing the mag, or using a real distributor, would be my choices. A real distributor from that model tractor, is better than a mag in that the distributor has a centrifugal advance that adjusts the timing over a range of advance tailored to the RPM. The mag does not. The mag is either retarded to start, or on full advance. Which makes idling and mid throttle use less efficient, and rougher. Jim

Yes, a electronic ignition can be installed in place of the points. It will have additional wires, but are reliable and sold by YTmag parts. Jim
