I rewired my A and made sure I made a wire by wire replacement but now the ampmeter reads discharge when the engine is running. Could I have reversed the polarity of the generator in moving the wires around? I had the battery disconnected during the process. I tried searching the archives for directions for flashing the field but can't seem to find it, I know it is there. Could someone refresh my memory? I suppose the regulator could have just decided to quit but that seems highly unlikely. I feel I must have goofed but it's such a simple process it seem shard to mess it up but I guess it wouldn't be the first time I blew it. Cold it be possible that the generator is not charging in reverse but is actually discharging when the engine is running? Any comments appreciated!

If the tractor has lights turn them on with the engine off. If the gauge goes to charge, the gauge is backwards. The polarizing of the gen is done by jumping between the bat terminal on the regulator to the arm (or gen)terminal on the regulator. (or cutout if it has the 4 position light switch). If things were painted, the generator (or VR might have lost their ground. Jim
