International 3288

Hi, I have an International 3288 that has a PTO that leaks. I was wondering how big of a job this would be to replace these two seals. Is it the same idea as an H and M?

You can replace the 1000 rpm shaft seal from the outside, 540 you need to totally disassemble pto. There is a seal made by Hy Capacity that screws into the spot where shield goes over 540 shaft. CaseIH does not make them. The problem is, why is it leaking. Most likely from clutch's getting hot from slipping so a tear down might be called for anyway.
 
How do you go about taking the 1000 RPM seal from the outside? The 1000 is the only one that is leaking. The only way I can see to get it out would be to drive it out from the inside. Thanks
 
Every one has their own method. I often use a small slide hammer seal puller. It has a screw on the end and you drill holes in the seal , turn the screw into the hole and use the slide hammer to tap it out. Can make one out of a rod and weight. Often have to drill several holes as they will pull out of seal. Just don't drill right next to the housing or shaft. Pretty easy. I have a pipe with proper sized plate on end to drive the new seal in.
