We have just acquired a vintage International Harvester Tractor.
The ID plate is in poor condition, and only partially legible.
What we can make out is:
Model: 04 _ _
Serial: 04 _ _ BH18524W1K

It is a 4 cyl gas engine. Can anyone help us identify the year and model? We believe it to be in the early 1950s.

Thanks in advance for any information.

Pictures are worth a thousand words when it comes to identifying tractors. Also, since the plate is only partially readable, look for casting numbers on the block as that may help some of the more experienced guys here identify it with out a complete serial number. Best of luck and ask a lot of questions. This forum has an insane amount of knowledge on it.

kub6040 is correct, late 1947 04. W1K means battery ignition, hydraulic drive, starting and lighting. The W1K does not look correct to me as battery ignition did not show until about 1949. My dad had a late 47 H with a magneto (same engine as yours) -- if yours has a mag the W1k should not be there.
