I personally would do an overhaul on it. If it is burning all that oil it need rings and valve guides. A top end should be cheaper than replacing IMHO.
 
Same as WD6 or MD fyi.

a few years back we swiped the engine out of a unused w6 in the shed for in the T6(block was cracked) here. The oil pan, oil pump, back (mounting) plate, and governor were different. can't recall what else. we just pulled the parts that didn't match off the good engine, and put the ones from the busted engine on.
 
Brother and I just swapped out a TD-6 engine into a WD-6. The things that I remember being different were flywheel and clutch, fuel filter assembly, coolant inlet on the
top of engine, motor mounts (front and rear), fan, start and run linkage (both sides of engine). I'm sure there were a lot of other things as memory is not what it used
to be.
