Motors are electric. They were never used in a 450 anything. Many of us older farmers will not responn to improper grammer and punctuation.

Good luck on finding an MD engine. MDs were rare and worth a lot. I don't know of anything else that used that engine. If at all possible, I would repair your engine, or switch it to a gas one.

But some will:

This explains it well.

Agreed. If you want it running again you'll probably end up turning it into a T-6 and drop an old M gas engine in it - plenty of those to had for cheap. Finding a MD that is running means paying a lot up front for the tractor just to pull the engine.

The engine from a 400/450 diesel has slightly more displacement and will work but again finding one worth installing means buying a running working tractor with the gas/diesel engine and they won't be cheap.

I know where there is a complete (supposedly) motor out of a 400D in central Michigan. What is wrong with the engine in the TD-6 currently?

Well, if that engine is wore out, whats the crawler part like ? I got a neighbor he bought a new T-6 gas in 51, everything is mint on his! I dont think he has even touched the motor.

I learned a lot about engines from the old "Motor Manuals". You don't put "Motor Honey" in a motor? Trying to use the term motor exclusively for electric motors is pretty recent and wrong. Lot's of hydraulic motors out there. And there was an electric motor on about all the 450's.

Be kind, the green guys are snobbish.

There's a place in Versailles MO that is likely to have one It is called Zimmermans and I could get the number for you if you send me an e-mail

Pay no attention to the holier than thou types who bust your balls over "Motor" vs "Engine", we know what you are looking for.

A diesel from an MD, W6D, Super MD, 400D, 450D & some others would work for you, but I agree with the ones who suggest that you consider a gas motor ;-) for it.
They are more plentiful, cheaper to buy and cheaper to fix. Easier to work on and get parts for too.

You're right. Standard English is best and always appreciated, but I'm fairly tolerant. For example, I don't belittle those who mistype "respond" or can't spell "grammar." I figure nobody's purefekt; least of all, me. :)

Have you had it running? What makes you think it is worn out? It would be a shame to scrap a good diesel with minor problems. In the gas start mode they have NO power.

Bates Corporation in Bourbon Indiana has a huge International scrap yard .Not sure where you are located but they have had a huge inventory in the past .

So bearings and rings and a head gasket. If your head isn't cracked, and if you get a diesel replacement you may buy one with a cracked head too. I think the little diesels were a little more resilient than the big ones as far as cracking the heads goes. Cracked a head on a TD-18 one time, not a good experience.
