I am going to change the battery cables they were on wrong would like to know how to polarize it Thanks for all the help Paul

On a Voltage Regulator or a Cutout Relay, momentarily flash jump from BAT terminal over to GEN/ARM terminal and you should get a small spark. Or else jump any hot ungrounded battery voltage source (like is on BAT on VR or Cutout) direct down to the gennys ARM post. Do that BEFORE starting

If 6 volt they can't be wrong--positive ground or neg ground are ok as long as the attachments to the amp meter and coil are ok. My five 6 volt tractors are positive ground. If that is what you are talking about. If you happen to have an alternator, neg is grounded.

There was discussion that the cables were too small, that might be what he is talking about.
