I'm looking at buying new water and fuel guage cluster, light switch, and sending units for my 544. Are the parts steiner sells good quality. I see that bates Corp sells these parts would these be better quality than steiner or the same parts. Would my local case ih dealer sell oem parts? I know in the past I've gone to the local case ih dealer and asked for parts and they pulled out a steiner catalog.

if you have a Napa store close,, chk out the VDO gauges, they are popular on the coast, lots of marine applications, they are good for tractors being exposed to the elements , they have manual and electric

I don't know about the gauges the company you mentioned sells, but I have purchased some after-market knock-off parts that were defective out of the box and some that were very good. So it's hard to know what you are getting except it is hard to beat items made in the USA if you can find them.

I will totally agree with don't know what you are getting, I would stay away from the , I have been in a jam and have had to use the cheap ones from like auto zone or other fast food parts stores, That is why I use the VDO gauges, have put them in Cranes, Track Hoes, boats, tractors, and always have had good luck with them , and what I like about them , They have a variety of the color and facings you like

At this years Red Power Roundup I talked to the owner of Precision Tractor Parts and he is selling OEM quality gauges. He bought the tooling from OEM and has been working with CIH licensing agreements and getting set up. He said his gauges are made of metal not plastic. His phone # is 800-245-3774. His web address is precisiontractorparts.com. I haven't had a chance to buy from him but I think they are the real deal.

A Friend of mine bought a fuel gauge from the company you mentioned for a JD 530 and twice when I connected the wire from the sender, the terminal moved a little. After that the gauge never worked. The guy at the company did replace one of three gauges on warranty and said he has to buy products that will compete with the OEMS. The terminal was mounted in PLASTIC!!!!! It was JUNK and I will NOT buy gauges form them ever!!! He could have bought a 135.00 OEM and been WAY ahead!!!!

Was that the stand right at the RPRU entrance on the right, just as you came in? Under the big oak? If so I was really impressed by his quality too. Bought a few things. Thanks for the .com address, I'll check itout.

He was under a tent next to Pilot Knob Restorations parts. He had some fuel lines on a table with a couple different lights. I asked him about a light switch and he told me about what he was doing. I guess he went to OEM's sale and was interested in buying some shelving or something and ended up buying some of the tooling. He said it has been a process to get to this point.
