Farmasll C thermo-siphon cooling

Just overhauled this engine and I notice that it has a pressureized type radiator and cap but no water pump. Will the thermo-siphon cooling still be efective or should I install a water pump? Dont want the customer to burn it up.

This tractor will not be used hard, just for toying around with.

Could it be that "pressurized" cap is a (incorrect) replacement someone installed when the original was lost or damaged?.Agree with kub6040,remove the rubber

You don't need a water pump. Most all the C tractors had a pressurized radiator. Thermosyphon does not care if pressurized or not. It will circulate fine with the pressure cap. You just need to be sure the water passages in the block and radiator are clean. Flush it out good and you should be ready to go.

The cap for a pressurized radiator will not fit the non-pressurized radiator. The cap for the non-pressurized radiator WILL interchange with the fuel tank cap.

after it gets hot it normally falls on it's face , tell them to put a water pump in it .

Correct answer is right here. Run it. The system has no way to know it is under pressure, and the pressure will likely make a positive difference in gurgling and boiling noise when shut down. It will be fine. Jim

A pressurized thermo-siphon system will work a little better as it will not boil until a higher temperature. The presence of vapor in the system will restrict the flow and cause the tractor to overheat. The thermo-siphon systems work great so long as the water passages are clear. They also are more efficient, not requiring horsepower to turn a pump.

I have 3 pressurized C113's. Rubber removed?? A pressurized cap will not fit a non pressurized radiator at all. The fuel cap will.
