I just bought a 806 diesel. for parts.Kind of "rough".'Fender' tractor(the fenders are gone).Every thing else is thereWd front,3 point.9800 hrs.Stuck motor.I need some parts, mostly rear tires and rims. The tractor was running great, everything worked perfectly. Rain entered the exaust due to a bad raincap. I wonder...Would it be worth it to try to unstick and make run? I may pull the head to see how bad.But I have no intention of BUYING an OH kit.Or should I just part it out? BTW, Ipd $1000.Did I pay too much? LOL

About right for a non-runner. Especially if there are no quality tires or rims on it to be sold. As was discussed on the IH board recently the D361 and D407 engines are expensive to rebuild. I would pull the head to see how bad the sleeves and pistons look. In the end I would bet that the 1000 dollars paid really is not a smoking deal.

Well with out seeing it i can not say if you did or did not pay tomuch . If the wide ft. is really good they will bring 950 around here , 3 point will bring 650 if it is complete and good with two good leveling links . dual speed PTO 650 Good cast centers 650 each . since you can not run it to check the T/A or any of the gears you can not really sell the range trans as a GOOD unit so piece meal the gears and shafts . Engine wise it is not vary often that you need a head for one of them and about the same for the block and crank . If it had dual remotes then 650 for that.

Useable rear tires and rims are an easy $600-$800, good rear tires and rims would be double that.

Steve I called , my opinion I would pull the injectors and fill each cylinder with acetone wait 20 minutes and try to turn the engine , I use an old yoke on the pto with a long bar , I think that will work , if not parts it is .

Delta, is there any chance you can get some lube, in there if u take the injectors out,If you could get some Lube Gard Free-Eze in there it wont score, if you do get it too turn. Lube Gard is the trade mark, made by International Lubricants Inc. Seattle Washington.
If it had had any care the sleeves will be just fine ! [except for the water that got in there]

It was a good running tractor 2 years ago, then the water got in. The guy got it freed up last year. Then got sick and let it set up again..The wf is wallered, but useable.Has one good 15.5x38 tire. The other,While deep tread, is cracked.Rims and wheels are good. Trouble is,around here there NO demand for used IH parts. Most of these 'knotheads' would rather go buy a new(er) tractor than fix what they have.....

I've seen two non-running 806's sell over the past several years and they were in the mid-teens price wise but the tinwork was very straight and had decent to good tires on them. There would not be much demand for the WFE or 3pt around here. No doubt you can get your money back out in parts if it will not run but I don't see a parts yard offering much more than what you paid for it.

806 has an independent, hydraulic clutch type pto, so can't be driven from the back end. there's the window to the flywheel housing on the right side and the rectangular plate under the flywheel- put a pry bar on the ring gear.

from the sounds of it, definitely worth fixing.

as long as the sleeves aren't scored, you could free it up, hone the rust spots off the sleeves, and only be out a top end gasket set.

I would try to free it up. 806D is a sought after machine in this area. The cheapest one I've seen that would move under its own power was 6k. I don't think you did bad at a grand.

If it doesn't fee up then you can part it in the off season and make some on it after you use what you can.

If the pump is the old RD they tell me there are no parts available for it so not much there. If it has the other pump I would be interested in the fuel set up. If you part it out.
