My 460 is running kinda rough and I have to choke it to start even when it's warmed up, it has......
New intake/exhaust manifold gasket (tested again, no leaks)
New plugs
Carb cleaned and kit put in it.
Main jet 7 turns out.
Idle mixture screw does nothing when I turn it in or out (could be part of the problem)
Tried to adjust timing no improvement.
Try to run in taller gear, she sputters and try's to die. Really have to feather the clutch.
Any advice appreciated, thanks.

Don't know the first foggiest thing about it, but 7 turns open seems like a huge number of turns. Would think the needle would be so far off the seat it wounldn't make much difference, 7 or 8 or 10 turns.

Yeah, 5 is the magic number. I just kept turning it out so see If it improved and made note of how many turns out before I left for the day.

Was this a running tractor ? What all have you done just
carberator? I need more information.

Tractor ran great then sat for a year. Went through fuel system. Rebuilt the carb, fired right up, then had a manifold leak so I put a new gasket on and it fixed that. Tractor starts fine but you still have to choke it to start it even after its warmed up. 3rd gear it didn't like. I really had to let the clutch out slow to keep it running even at fairly high RPM. Tried adjusting idle mixture screw, it made no difference.

Motor was gone through a while ago, not by me. I wouldn't know what a stuck valve would sound like. I suspect I have to much faith in the sediment bowl catching all the dirt. When I rebuilt the carb, I chased all the orafices with thin wire, one was completely clogged. I could have a plugged one again, maybe for the idle mixture?

Are you sure there is enough fuel getting to the carb? I've had rust almost seal the inlet to the sediment bowl shut. I had to remove it from the tractor and pick rust flakes out, it was really jammed in there.

yeah, I'm going there next, that happened to my H. Rust flakes in the Inlet. I put the screen on it (goes up in the tank) problem fixed. Letting these tractors sit, is the worst thing for them.

you still have a hole in carb pluged take the carb off and look down at the throttle plate when closed if you look close u will see a small slot at the lowest part of throttle plate this hole has to be open and clean for idle air ssrew to work right[1---2]turns out---- crank power jet out [ 2 ---3] turns out---- roger
