How many hrs?Yes probably just plain worn out. They can also become 'either dependent' from prolonged/excessive ether use.Broken
rings, other damage that results in low compression.

Yes pull the pump and get it checked and repaired along with your injectors. I have bought and sold more 06 through 66 series than most people would own in 4 lifetimes and would be surprised the number I have bought that the engine was "WORE OUT" get the pump done and bango we have ignition. Bear in mind some were well wore but would always start on there own in warm weather.

When cranking the engine do you get any smoke? Does it start OK when the engine is warm? If you get smoke then maybe the problem is low compression. If you do not have smoke coming out the exhaust then the problem may well be in the pump. Another problem may be an air leak in the fuel system that causes a loss of fuel delivery until the air is purged out of the system. By that time the oil pressure has built up enough to turn off the excess fuel device making the engine harder to start. In that case the engine would start after allowing the oil pressure to drop off again.
