Cub carb leaking gas

I've got my 47 Cub running real well now and the only problem left to solve is the carb - I can't get it stop leaking when the tractor is sitting without turning off the gas. I've had it apart, made sure everything was clean, put in a kit and adjusted the float to more than it should have to be. I don't hear liquid in the float.I also hear the float moving when I turn over the carb.It is a rubber tipped needle valve. Any tricks to this thing. Don't recommend keeping the gas turned off as I hate that - that only means something is wrong and needs to be fixed.

Does the inlet seat have a gasket under it, and did you tighten it *@%& TIGHT?

When I do carbs I put a little bit of nail polish on mating surfaces. Like that paper gasket ring for the float valve. A tiny pit in the metal will screw things up and leak ever so slowly. Had it happen on a chainsaw carb. Had a very small air leak and it would suck dry. Nail polish fixed her up. The floats need to be DEAD level with the top half of the carb. Turn it upside down and eye it up. If you pushed down on the float to get it right... YOU already messed up the little rubber tip. It must be done ever so gently with a pair of short jaw needle jaw plyers. NEVER EVER push down on that little needle valve!! To test the seal of that valve I hook a short piece of clear plastic hose to the carb and put it in the vise. pour it full of gas and let it sit over night. You will see how good a seal you have.

I won't recommend keeping the gas turned off but that is what I do on mine. Sometimes the float can drag on the bowl a little, it needs to be centered and adjusted according to specs to be right.

I was able to bend the float without pressing on the rubber tipped needle valve. I was wondering if the carb body could be pitted under the gasket for the needle valve assembly.
