Mag gear timing

Just had my motor rebuilt I just realized that I
forgot to give them the mag gear . The book says
that all of the gears need to be in time. Is there any
way I can get it in time with out haveing to remove
the front cover ?

I think you can on an H, but it will probably require some trial and error.

just line up the mag on #1 wire where it is to be and slide the housing with gear into the timing gear housing. then u fine tune the timing with the mag slots. I have done this on my w6 when I changed engines to the super engine and wanted to keep the original mag instead of dist. I had to rework the holes in the housing as they had different spacing.
